Ampro fucking gel. I have been using the shit since I started
Wrong. You would be better off by spraying your hair with an entire bottle of Pump It Up, sitting under a hooded hair dryer, and then trying to comb through it all with a fine tooth comb. I don't know what type of alcohol / meerkat ass juice / transmission fluid they put in that shit but it will leave your hair dryer than the bottom of Oprah's feet if you're not careful. Or at least that has been my experience with it.
I have pretty dry hair so any product that does the reverse of add much needed moisture to my luxurious creole locks [white girl head swing] leaves me with a brush full of hair that's supposed to be on top of my head. And that's bad, real bad, Michael Jackson.
But that was then and this is now. I almost never wear my hair in a ponytail unless I am going to the gym [and you know that hasn't happened in months, hellur!] or making a quick run to Dollar Tree to purchase chicken ramen. I'm just saying, you already know what the girl behind the counter usually looks like when you go in there, so I don't feel bad at all for a fly away or two. You can see that bitch naked weft track, being in the presence of my sloppy ponytail should make her want to do the Halle Berry.
Lately I have been noticing a lot of nice up-do's that I would like to try out on my ten gallon head but the thought of putting that brown shit on my head gives me the sad Lil' Mama face. Any suggestions?
Is THAT why I can't never get my hair to look like the bitches on the perm box!?
That would be it!
Fantasia IC w/ Sparklelites. Cheap, clear, not a whole lot of badness in terms of ingredients, can find it everywhere. Loves it.

Thanks so much! I appreciate the help.
WOWZERS! Ampro Gel does NOT contain alcohol, which is the #1 drying agent. It does, however, contain protein like most styling gels, Ampro being the original. Protein is a hardening agent, not a drying one. After the gel hardens, I wouldn't suggest combing OR brushing the hair. Gel is used to set a style if it is being used in any other way, it will cause the hair to break off. ANY PRODUCT THAT CONTAINS PROTEIN will do the same. Protein gel can not be "combed/brushed out of hair." THAT will cause major breakage. It must be shampooed out, not just rinsed because water will make the gel regenerate. If you're looking for a gel that will set w/o the "hardness" or protein, I'd suggest our Purple Rain Conditioning gel. We thank you for the dedication, of sorts, & hope we've helped you understand the nature of protein gels, even if just a little bit. :)
BOOOO!
Reading is fundamental. I said that happened when I was in MIDDLE SCHOOL. Age 12, I believe. Yeah, haven't been rocking ponytails since and if I do I don't use the gel. So again, BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Fresh I believe you rock the natural curls, as do I - if you haven't already, try Miss Jessie's. It's the BEST thing for curly girls, EVER.

Thanks boo! I have been hearing about the product forever, I gotta stop being stubborn and give it a try.
All this talk of protein makes me think that Cameron Diaz may have been on to something in "There's Something About Mary". Just sayin'.....
I loooove that gel!
I use it all the time!
Ah, good ole pro styl. *shudders* I'd personally go with Fantasia Sparkle-lites. It worked wonders when I was natural and still works now that I'm texlaxed. It keeps the hair in place without that crispy feeling. I prefer the clear one but I hear the blue one is pretty good, too.
damn, i use it and it works for me lol...love it
Got a big jar just waving at me from the bathroom shelf...Die Satan cause i'm takin this mofo natural!@
Thanks for the PSA...I needed it!

I feel your pain. Recently, I have discovered the joys of "Short and Sassy". It is a wonderfully "light" feeling (are you ready?), GLAZE! That's right it's not even a gel yet. works like a charm on my sides ( i love a faux hawk) and, lends great sheen to any updo. I would give you the brand but, my roommate absconded with my jar.
Bon Coiff!

That Ampro gel is not the bussiness. When it flakes it looks like brown dandruff is raining down onto your shoulders.I remember back in the day when I got my hair done in b-more a chick used that stuff to give me some fingerwaves.
It's the excess protein in the stuff that makes your hair so dry.
freash try Oyin handmade's Shine & Define coaxing serum if you're natural. That stuff will hold your hair down without being hard.
